Institutional Affairs

The influence of national and international legislation on Eintracht Frankfurt’s business model, the Bundesliga system, and European football as a whole has also become much more important as professionalization increases. This was made clear once again by the recent European Court of Justice (ECJ) judgement on the Super League.

In this increasingly regulated and politicized football world, a public affairs strategy is essential for football clubs. Eintracht Frankfurt faces various challenges and opportunities in the political, economic, and social environment that can have direct impacts on the club. Establishing a public affairs strategy allows Eintracht Frankfurt to proactively engage with all these issues.

From organizing events to exchanging ideas and networking, we utilize various means to ensure the competitiveness and long-term success of Eintracht Frankfurt by ensuring that our voice is heard and actively participating in the discussions that affect our sport and our club.

International Forums

Over the years, we have developed a deep appreciation for the value of open dialogue, recognizing its role as a cornerstone for fostering global connections and collaboration across various sectors. This is why Eintracht Frankfurt has therefore integrated the organization of international dialogues and forums as a fundamental aspect of our international strategy.
These platforms are dynamically launched by Eintracht Frankfurt in collaboration with selected countries, such as Norway and Japan, with the aim of forging links between Germany and these nations. Leveraging the unifying power of football, we bring together stakeholders from sport, politics and business to foster collaborative innovation. Through targeted initiatives, we address economic and societal challenges and present practical solutions. These international forums are bridging the gap between practitioners and decision-makers.

Cooperation with Football Institutions

Our Institutional Affairs team forms the link between Eintracht Frankfurt and national and international sports organizations. All sports policy issues are bundled here and dialogue is conducted at all levels in the pyramidally organized sports model. Close co-operation exists here on the association side via the DFB, UEFA and FIFA, as well as on the club side with the DFL and ECA. Representatives of Eintracht Frankfurt are members of numerous committees at various levels. From DFB committees and ECA working groups to commissions and, through Axel Hellmann, ultimately also the DFL Executive Committee.

In a constant dialogue, we try to assert our interests and give Eintracht Frankfurt a strong voice in organized football. Most recently Eintracht Frankfurt proudly hosted the ECA’s Platform for Executive Consultation (PEC) meeting for Network Clubs in Frankfurt. These exchanges are crucial for ECA to prioritizing topics on the agenda, reforms and value propositions for clubs.
